Exterior
You will not find a more beautiful shaped boat that has been expertly constructed, sporting an enclosed cabin, rakish bow, and mahogany transom. Plenty of white painted planks form the beautiful sides and topping the boat is a veritable forest of highly lacquered mahogany edging. The split front window has more mahogany and stainless edging on the frames. On the angled stern, with its dual exhaust poking out the center of the dungbie, we see more mahogany unpainted and lacquered. A red stripe bands the entire boat at the waterline and the bottom is new planked blue painted wood. In addition to all the shiny rigging on the rear deck there is a laminate of more mahogany. This doubles as the cover to the engine and bilge compartments and hides the fuel tank. Plenty of shiny but slightly corroded rigging for ropes and a wonderfully shaped white painted wood planked top has shades of a swoop spear in its design, (think Ford Crown Vic’s of the era).
Interior
Shiver me timbers, I can see gorgeous smooth red vinyl and white piping in curvaceous form making up the front bucket seats in front and rear wide bench. These are pristine and are fronted by a wood dash and some mahogany unpainted panels. New round shiny bezel gauges and a few knobs as well as a Uniden digital depth gauge are seen in the dash, which is fronted by a large white steering wheel that has a beautifully nifty 50’s horn ring. Just perfect new weatherproof cabin decking is noted under the buckets, and a shiny shift lever just out from the center of this right-hand driver. Aft of the left passenger bucket is a mini kitchen which has a stainless steel sink complete with running water within a mahogany countertop. Below within this cabinet is a new Norcold AC/DC Marine fridge and for those all day trips hundreds of miles off the coast, in the bow below deck is a Jabsco Marine electric toilet with a holding tank. Nice to have a loo when one needs to poo! Blimey! There is no Bikini Bottom nonsense going on here sailors.
Drivetrain
Below the aft deck, under a hidden panel covering sits a fully restored and like new 327ci Chris Craft V8. This sea blue beauty has all supple hoses and wiring, and a single 4-barrel carburetor to feed it. Let’s go make some wake.
At this point I need to mention that the boat travels in land on a dual wheel rendered boat trailer which presents in good condition.
All is ship shape for this ’55 26 foot Cruiser, beautiful exterior wood, lots of shiny chrome, tight seams, and a V8 Chris Craft engine. Excellent presentation on the bench and bucket seated interior, keeping it simple but very elegant. A kitchen, a fridge and a toilet and heck we’ll even be throw in the kitchen sink, (Even though it’s technically there)! A wood boat may be in your future?? I guess whatever floats your boat!
