1957 Packard Clipper Project Restoration CAR
RESTORATION PROJECT. I was a new car dealer in Southern California for many years. Over the years when we would come across an interesting vehicle, I would buy it with the intention of restoring it in the future. Time has passed by and a few of them did not get restored. Its time to sell to someone that can restore and enjoy the cars as they should be enjoyed. We have had this car in storage since 1984, 37 years. We believe this car has had only one previous owner that purchased the car brand new in Santa Ana California. We were told that the car had never been driven outside of Orange County California in its entire life. IT HAS 23,982 ACTUAL MILES! We recently installed a battery, cleaned the fuel system, added fresh fuel and it started right up. It starts and “lot” drives. It has not been safety checked or had the tires replaced and thus is not in road worthy condition. It will need to be gone through completely before it is driven on the roads. This is a restoration project car. It appears to be very solid for a car of this age with only a couple of spots that have some small rust on them that is hard to see in the photos. The interior needs to be completely reupholstered as time has not been kind to the fabric. All of the glass is in good condtion along with the chrome. Here is what we know as of today when we checked the car out: All the lights work including the interior lights and back up lights. The wipers work, the radio plays, the front door power windows work, the rear door power windows do not operate. The engine starts on the first try on its own and we have a video for those that would like to hear it running.
The transmission goes forward and in reverse but does seem to operated a little slow. We even have both sets of keys. All of these comments are as of today and there is no guarantee that they will work or be the same in the future. Again we are selling the car “As Is” with no warranty stated or implied.
