The two-wheel-drive DJ-5 was used most often as a right-hand-drive delivery vehicle for the United States Postal Service, although military and municipal customers also were served. This left-hand-drive example has been refinished in blue with a white roof. City of Los Angeles police graphics are found on the sliding side doors and the swing-out rear door, and two lights and one siren are attached to the roof. The two-passenger cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl. A Motorola Motrac mobile radio is positioned above a Federal controller for lights, sirens, and microphone. Other appointments include a T-handle shifter, a reading light, operating instructions on the dashboard, and seatbelts.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 90-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 58k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The Chevrolet-sourced 153ci inline-four is painted red, and one of the cooling-system hoses has been secured in a kinked manner.
