1970 Barracuda, Gran Coupe
Originally purchased in Alexandria Virginia off the show room floor at Polk Motor co. in mid 1970 “ The worlds friendliest” was the slogan. The dealership was a local landmark and closed in 1972 to build a new larger dealership down the road. The car was fully optioned with premium seats, Grand Coupe package, overhead console, light package, AC and more. The original build sheet will be seen in the ad. In 82 it went to Los Angeles California. I has been there ever since, driving those streets in the good old days of Hollywood.

Enjoy the patina looking AAR that you can park anywhere and not feel paranoid, drive on gravel roads, drive across country! This is what I planned on for the car which is why I went with the 8HP transmission from an SRT Challenger. It has a custom drive shaft made for the car, ECU is an unlocked Mopar unit so in theory you could have cruise control and I was using the stock cluster and steering wheel but you will have everything to use the stock ones or the 16 Charger stuff. I have everything and everything will go with the car if desired.
The interior was shockingly clean and the panels are near flawless condition and completely original except I changed one of them from “Gran Coupe” to “Cuda during the AAR clone conversion. I do still have all the original badging for the car. It is amazingly solid and it was a complete and original car minus the 318 2 barrel it came with.
Now the car has a large list of upgrades, AAR parts and a 5.7 Hemi installed from a 2016 Charger Police package. I bought the running and driving Police package Charger just for this swap because I wanted every detail of the swap available. You will receive more than $20,000 in parts and upgrades since I purchased the car 3 years ago. I am only selling the car unfortunately for financial reasons but I am not desperate to sell it, it took me 2 years to get this car in my hands from when I discovered it in California.
Comes with a set of 5 brand new BF Goodrich T/As and 5 15 inch AAR Rallye rims and two 14s. 3 of the 15 inch rims are brand new in the box. Other items are new AAR side out exhaust tips, bucket seats that are power and also rears for the comfort. Has the correct rear antenna, side out exhaust, AAR spoiler, front spoilers, stripes, fiber glass good and more details from the AAR.
Rust is a big question and it is extremely solid. In fact, it is the most solid basically original car I have ever owned of this vintage. Quarters are keepers, truck is perfect, floors are the best originals I’ve seen and perfectly solid. I did find some rust in the floor in the front after seeing some POR15 leak through but its all very serviceable and solid. There’s a ding behind the driver’s door and there is rust where it was dented but there is nothing I would do to this body, just drive it!
I have all of the conversion parts for the 5.7 Hemi swap, the conversion kits, wiring harnesses for the engine and trans, motor mounts, headers, and much more are from Bouchillion Performance. A full list and receipt is available. Has a AAR style ram air induction to make the AAR hood functional as it should be, the entire interior is Dynamat, floor as are perfectly solid and so is the frame. Has the HID head lights for it that look stock till the go on, has the brakes from the 16 Charger also comes with a new gas tank and a brand new EFI gas tank there are hundreds of other parts small and big which are too numerous to list.
I am sure there are other things it will need or people will want to do to the car but this car is super solid, has all you need to get it driving. I had this car at a professional shop that does swaps and drivetrain and electrical work. Basically they became very busy and were not going to get it done in the time frame I thought was reasonable (a year) so its been in storage for 5 months.
What is left to do: Engine and trans, are installed, wiring is in the car. Hvac, steering and maybe brakes, electrical routing, dyno tune and interior reassembly is required. The estimated time left on the build is 10 hours but could be more. It is currently set up for rear battery, if you want to put it back to stock this is possible, nothing has been destroyed or modified that makes that impossible. I will not sell the car without the swap as it is installed and part of the car. You will have to take all the parts, rims, tires and all of it comes with the vehicle. If you do not want the extras we can work out a discount.
I do have 40 more photos of the car so feel free to contact me and I will get those to you.
If you have any questions I am available at 612-964-7609. If you need shipping I have a shipper and quotes. I will accept a deposit via Venmo or Apple Pay or Wire of $500. Local showings are welcome. Thank you.
