Conceived as direct competition for Plymouth’s Road Runner, Pontiac’s ‘GTO Judge’ hit the street in 1969 w/ a higher standard level of trim as part of a package that included bold graphics, GTO’s special suspension, wide-tread Polyglas G70-14 tires, and the 400/366 HP Ram Air III engine. The Judge could also be ordered w/ the much more radical Ram Air IV, deceitfully rated at just 370hp w/ 445 Ft. Lbs./Torque. The Ram Air IV returned in the beautifully restyled 1970 GTO, which gained a much more muscular look w/ a new endura front end and pronounced fender creases accented on the Judge by multi-colored graphics. At a cost of $558.20, the Ram Air IV option was outrageously expensive at the time, but it was also Pontiac engineering at its renowned best, featuring a 4-bolt main block, high-lift cam w/ 1.65:1 rocker-arms working in free-flowing round-port heads, special aluminum intake manifold, high-flow cast iron headers, all topped with the famous Ram Air intake system sealed to twin hood scoops.

‘Red Hills Rods & Classics’ is very proud to offer you this absolutely gorgeous, numbers-matching and rotisserie restored 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge, one of only (325) built w/ the Ram Air IV engine and the M21 close-ratio 4-speed transmission. Finished in its factory correct Polar White (Code 10) wrapped around its factory correct black vinyl bucket seat interior w/ console, this Judge is an absolute show-stopper! We acquired this GTO Judge from Tom Stutzman, a very well-known Pontiac GTO collector & aficionado. The no expense spared restoration is absolutely dead-on and factory correct in every way. All of the original sheet-metal is super straight all the way around the car, and the Polar White paint is simply gorgeous, w/ a brilliant shine. All of the chrome and stainless-steel trim is in show-quality condition throughout. T3 headlights light up the road while she rolls on original Pontiac Rally II wheels, wrapped w/ factory correct Firestone Wide-Oval Polyglas G70-14 tires. From front to back, and top to bottom, this GTO Judge is pure Pontiac excellence!

When you open the driver’s door and slide into the ‘perfect’ factory correct black vinyl interior w/ console (Code 258), you will swear that it’s 1970 all over again. For GTO fanatics such as ourselves, nothing else quite feels as good as sitting in the high-back bucket seat, with your left hand gripping the formula steering, while your right hand is wrapped around the Hurst T-handle shifter, looking out over that long scooped-up hood. The beautiful black bucket-seat interior illustrates the luxury side of the GTO’s personality, incorporating a woodgrain trimmed Rallye instrument cluster w/ a beautiful engine-turned switch plate. All of the original gauges, lights, blinkers, AM radio, etc. are in perfect working order, and everything is factory correct and bone-stock in appearance. They just don’t make them like this anymore, period! The trunk area is beautifully restored as well, featuring the correct trunk mat, spare wheel, spare tire & tire cover, and factory jack assembly.

Now, let’s get to the heart of this beast, shall we?

Pop open the hood and nestled inside the beautifully detailed engine bay resides the original numbers-matching 400ci Ram Air IV motor (Code WW), which was completely rebuilt to factory specifications by LMR (Legget Motor Rebuilding) in Athens GA. Look closely under the hood and you will see that everything is factory correct throughout. The RAIV motor is linked to the original numbers-matching Muncie M21 close-ratio 4-speed transmission, which was completely rebuilt by Dennis Maroudas @ DME in Forest Hills, Kentucky. The original 3.90 Safe-T-Track rear end (Code XK) was also rebuilt and completely gone through at the time of the restoration. Acquiring a 1970 GTO Judge RAIV car w/ an all-original driveline is extremely rare, and just another aspect of this car that makes it so special. As we know, the RAIV engine was rated at 370hp, barely more than the RAIII’s 366hp, but to people in the know, the RAIV motor produced much more than the advertised horsepower, and were sought after by drag race drivers at the time. This GTO Judge fires up nicely, settling into a nice smooth idle, and runs, drives and performs beautifully in every way. Needless to say, these Ram Air IV GTO’s are extremely quick w/ loads of power & torque, and they are an absolute blast to drive. The factory power steering and power disc brakes make driving around town effortless, and when you get her out on the highway, she tracks straight and true. Of course, this piece of muscle car history is fully documented by the bulletproof Pontiac Historical Services (PHS) paperwork, which shows all of the options and features that the car left the factory with.

This is an opportunity to own a true piece of muscle car history, one that is owned by only a select few. This GTO Judge RAIV represents the pinnacle of performance & styling for Pontiac, making it highly collectible and sought after by American muscle car enthusiasts worldwide. With such a limited amount produced, they are certain to continue to appreciate in the years to come. If you are searching for an investment-grade GTO that can win ‘First Place’ awards @ any national level automotive event, or simply one that can be driven and enjoyed to the fullest, it will be very hard to beat this gorgeous 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge Ram Air IV!
