1975 Ford F-350

Super Camper Special

w/Ranger & XLT Packages

Originally a California truck, then relocated to Oregon in the late 90’s, we had the truck shipped here from the west coast in 2016 and began on our journey. The truck is a ’75 F-350 Super Camper Special, finished in Candy Apple Red and Wimbledon White, with the Ranger and XLT packages. Being a west coast truck for most of its life and having never seen inclement weather while in New York, it has no rust and no rot. The Super Camper Special, Ranger XLT packages allow for this truck to easily tow with its large tow mirrors, a powerful engine and a big 3.73 Dana 70 rear end, but also allows for a bed mounted camper to be installed. The frame still has the original receivers to allow for jacks or adjustable legs when setting up a camper on site. It also still has its original frame mounted 2” receiver hitch out back. This F-350 was equipped from the factory with the 460 cubic inch big block Ford engine, a 3 speed automatic transmission w/ trans cooler, the previously mentioned Dana 70, and dual fuel tanks. It is a factory power steering, factory air conditioning, factory dual battery truck. It has the factory full size spare wheel and tire in the side compartment on the passenger side of the bed for worry free adventures. This truck runs and drives excellent due to a slew of new parts during a six year long mechanical / light cosmetic restoration. The F-350 presents itself very well, and does show signs of a glass out respray at some point in its life. All badges and emblems are accounted for less the driver side XLT badge on the bed side below the indicator. All bright work is original and is 95% blemish free. There are half a dozen very small dings on the bright work that a good body shop could easily hammer and smooth. There is no rust or rot, no dings or dents other than a small dent in the leading edge centered on the top of the tailgate. Windshield rubber is in good order, rear glass shows signs of splitting. The doors both would benefit from new ¼ window rubber, and main glass could use track rubber. Doors open and close and they should, windows crank as they should. Interior presents well with minor imperfections. There is minor wear through on the driver side floor carpet from 47 years of drivers climbing in and out, as well as a small tear on the driver side seat. Door to cab seal on the driver side also has a 12” worn section correlating to the worn carpet area. All gauges work, as do all switches. Dashboard is crack free and all trim is in good condition. At present there is no radio, it was the intention to install a factory look, “Ford” script ‘Custom Audio Sound’ unit with all the modern amenities such as bluetooth, aux input etc.

The bad… two things. One, the aforementioned lack of radio. And two, an exhaust blow. As with most all big block and FE Ford engines, the passenger side exhaust manifold develops a leaking gasket. This truck is no exception. You hear it at startup, but it obviously fades as everything heats up and expands. Accompanying the truck is a brand new set of triple layer graphite gaskets for both sides of the engine. The intention was at some point to remove the engine and completely reseal everything, and at that time change the exhaust manifold gaskets. However the truck runs so well that is something that has not been ignored, but rather other things have taken priority, especially in the safety and reliability areas.

This is a running, driving, time capsule survivor. It is honest and tells no tales, hides no secrets, and is a testament to how things used to be made. It is an incredibly charming truck that fires up on the first try, shifts smoothly through all 3 gears, and stops as well as anything modern. It drives straighter down the road today than it did new. It leaves you and everyone else with a smile every time you see it. It is a pleasure vehicle, it is a work truck. It is a perfect weekend cruiser, or a continuation of a restoration. This F-350 is Americana at its best. No expense has been spared in this journey. Tens of thousands of dollars have been spent, but changes in life force passion projects like this to come to an end. Genuinely looking for someone who will love and cherish this truck the same way it has been for the better part of the last ten years.
