4,038 Ford GTs were produced for the world and 3,656 for the U.S. market over three production years (2004, 2005, and 2006). This example is #1598 of a build of 2022. It is #402 of #504 manufactured in Centennial White. This color was introduced with these cars in 2003 as the Centennial celebration of Ford. Also, the official U.S. race colors (starting in the ‘50s) were white with blue lengthwise stripes made famous by Briggs Cunningham.
This Ford GT was built on August 19th, 2005 at the Wixom Assembly plant. It was sold new on September 30th, 2005 by Robberson Ford of Bend, Oregon. It was ordered with all available factory options, which included:
McIntosh AM/FM w/single CD
Lightweight forged aluminum wheels
Red painted brake calipers
Painted racing stripes
The total MSRP was $166,945, which is $253,261 in today’s money.
The first owner lived in Bend, Oregon and kept this GT for 4 years and 5,800 miles. It was then sold to a California owner who registered it in New Jersey and only kept it a year but added less than 100 miles. It was then sold to a San Diego, California owner who registered the car in Alaska. It stayed in California with a couple of owners who eventually sold it to a local dealer in May of 2021 with 10,470 miles. Throughout these 14 years, the car was regularly serviced at the local Ford dealer. It appears to have just needed normal preventative maintenance and fluid changes. Eventually, it was purchased by Don Hinds Ford in Fishers, Indiana in January of 2022 with 10,500 miles. They performed a regular service and inspection just before selling it on March 22nd, 2022 with 10,542 miles to the current Southern California enthusiast.
With the launch of the 2nd generation Ford GT, this car (supposedly) was at an event where the original Ford GT designer, Camilo Pardo, and Henry Ford III were both present. They both signed the upper chassis parts in the engine compartment. Apparently, getting Henry Ford III’s signature is not an easy task.
The current owner is a long-time sports car enthusiast and fellow Porsche friend of ours whom we’ve known for nearly 2 decades. We’ve been fortunate to sell several of his cars over the years and they are always in impeccable condition. He is probably one of my top 5 favorite owners to buy a used car from. I’m sure the other 4 are reading this and you know who you are. Over the last 6 months, the current owner has added about 1,200 miles. He has used it to attend local Cars & Coffee events on the weekend. Although his time was short with this GT, he thoroughly enjoyed it. However, he is quite tall and realized that he fits better in a Porsche 911.
This Ford GT is in immaculate condition and is pristine. The exterior looks great and there are minimal signs of use. There are no significant scratches, dents, or any signs of damage. Although hard to confirm due to the aluminum panels being hand-prepped and primed for paint, I think the right rear fender might have had some paintwork. It’s very difficult to confirm with the naked eye. The glass is all original including the windshield with no major chips or cracks. The wheels have no curb rash and are wearing near new Bridgestone tires with near-full tread. The brakes have more than half life remaining.
The interior is equally as nice with minimal signs of wear. The leather seats have no tears or cracks. The door panels, headliner, and dash all look perfect. There are a few tiny scratches on the driver’s aluminum threshold. All the gauges, lights, mirrors, windows, buttons, and switches work properly. The McIntosh radio also works. The A/C system blows very cold.
This Ford GT starts easily and sounds great. The transmission shifts smoothly with no grinding or slipping. The clutch engages perfectly. The brakes have excellent bite with no fading or pulling. The car drives straight and handling is precise. As touring events are becoming more popular and inclusive (regardless of model year), this would be a blast on these driving events.
California registration is paid to March of 2023 and it passed California’s strict emissions/smog test.
This Ford GT comes with the original window sticker, original marketing brochure, Ford GT Certificate of Authenticity, owner’s manuals w/case, factory flat tire repair kit with tow hook, and two main keys with key fob remotes.
