1964 Ford Cobra Roadster

For consignment, a 1964 Ford Cobra roadster replica.  This is a Classic Roadsters kit and is housing a 427ci powerplant and a Tremec 5-speed and oh, so much more!

Exterior

A deep coat of Medium Blue Metallic covers the car like a candy coating and it’s augmented by spectacular charcoal stripes that are painted on in perfection.  The car sits low over its 15-inch knock off wheels and 60-series tires with a mid 2022 date code.  The gaping inlet to the radiator is flanked by chrome bumperettes and that opening forms the rounded hood which rebounds on raised, rounded fenders that house single headlights out front.  A small hood scoop captures wind that the open mouth misses and an upright windscreen with wind guards spares the driver some of the facing air that might be 60, 80, 100 miles per hour!  The sculpted hips are found out back where round lights split between amber and red and a chrome rollbar is mounted behind the driver.  In profile, dramatic side vents lead your eyes to the polished side pipes and a sleek, sharklike silhouette that leaves adoration in its wake like chum off a speedboat.  A single chip in the paint represents the only imperfection we could find on this fantastic exterior.

Interior

Black leather door panels are race ready in their simplicity, housing only a pleated map pocket on each side and they’re in fine condition.  The bucket seats are close replicas of the original cobra units in black leather and are in robust clean condition while wearing five point racing harnesses.  The wood rimmed steering wheel is on point as well and leads to a leather wrapped dashboard that hosts black faced AutoMeter gauges including a matching clock.  A white knobbed floor mounted shifter rises from the transmission hump which is covered in low pile black carpet that continues all the way to the back wall in great condition.

Drivetrain

Under the hood is a spotless 427ci side oiler V8 with dual 4-barrel Holley carburetors delivering the petrol.  It’s backed by a Tremec 3550 5-speed manual transmission that sends power back to the Ford 8.8″ rear with a consignor stated 3.73 gear set up.  Wrapped headers send the burned molecules southward and 11inch disc brakes are supplied up front with drums out back.  According to our consignor, the engine was built by Mike Gephart and is rated at 432 horsepower.  MSD ignition is onboard along with an oil cooler and remote filter.

Undercarriage

The tubular frame under the fiberglass body is super clean underneath and if anything, the limited use has resulted in a dusty underside.  But no surface rust nor oil leaks are seen anywhere.  Coil springs handle suspension tasks in the front and a 4 link with coils are in the back.  The exhaust runs a short distance from the headers into a collector that splits in four then connects to the side pipes.  The oil pan stands out visually as it is painted the color of the body.

Drive-Ability

We don’t have pilot licenses so we’re going to be doing more gliding than flying but suffice it to say this blue beast has more than adequate power, incredible grip and handling, and a crisp shifter that quickly sets this snake into motion.  And the sound from the side pipes is glorious.  We’re going hatless as there’s still wind in the comfortable cabin but not enough to worry about bugs hitting your teeth as you smile down the road.  The limited functions of this race replica all work as intended.  While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Real cobra snakes rise up high to warn adversaries of their power.  This one stays low and slithers along with ungodly power, a light chassis, and enough eye candy to turn every head of every person fortunate enough to see it pass by.  Don’t let this one pass you by!  This is the ultimate dream car of many people, and you’ll need to be first in.  Enough reading, time to make the call.
