STK 3797 1969 Ford Mustang Mach I 428 Cobra Jet
Automotive craftsmen hope to conceive a classic with their every clay model. In 1969, the designers of the Mustang Mach I created one of those enduring designs, a design that decades later reappeared as the foundation for the 5th generation Mustang. The original Mach I utilized Mustang’s ‘Sportsroof’ body and added numerous visual and performance enhancing items such as a black hood treatment w/hood scoop/pins, HD suspension, chrome pop-open gas cap, spoilers and chrome exhaust tips. This stunning ’69 Mach I 428 CobraJet retains all of these features, and has also been the beneficiary of a careful restoration. The car was restored in 2009 and the current owner has had it in his possession for 13 years. (Included with the car is an Elite Marti Report and the factory build sheet.) The two-stage Winter Blue re-spray (P5 code – original color) is in outstanding condition and Mach I strips and blackout hood treatment add stunning accents. A meticulously restored interior features black Clarian Knit /Vinyl Hi-Back bucket seats w/red trim, center console, tinted windows, full gauge cluster and the original AM sound system (may need TLC).
Based on the information provided with the car and code numbers, the Mustang is powered by 428ci CobraJet engine w/functional Ram-Air intake that has been built for performance. The non-original block was bored .030 over and TRW pistons were fitted. It is equipped with the factory cast iron CJ heads, Edelbrock intake, Holley carburetor, performance cam w/solid lifters, roller rockers, Cobra dress-up kit and tube headers. The 428 is backed by a 4-speed top-loader manual gearbox w/Hurst shifter and 9″ Ford HD rear end. (It is the correct, but not original transmission, and the 9″ HD differential housing appears to have been changed.) The solid chassis is equipped with manual steering, power assisted disc/drum brakes w/dual master and rear air shocks. Mustang ‘Magnum 500’ 14″ polished wheels mount BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. This classic Mach I is a piece of Blue Oval history from a time when muscle cars ruled the streets. It is an investment that will not disappoint. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS.”
