This 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 four door sedan runs, drives and stops good. It has a 352 8 cylinder engine, automatic transmission and the rear brakes have been rebuilt. There is a newer gas tank, fuel pump, ignition coil and some ground cables have been replaced. It has pretty new rims and Cooper Cobra tires. This cars frame is solid but will need floor pans, a muffler and a trunk pan among other things-see pictures. The transmission shifts through all of the gears, the headlights, taillights, brake lights and turn signals all work ok. There is no front or rear bumper, the interior has wear and will need a headliner, seat’s reupholstered or covered and other odds and ends. The coolant reservoir has a leak as pictured and should be repaired or replaced. This will come with some replacement seals in the bag, the rear view mirror is in the trunk and some trim pieces but not all of the trim pieces are there. All of the glass is good, smokers windows open and close, windshield wipers work sometimes but most of the time they don’t.
To me, this is a solid daily driver that can be driven as it’s worked on but you might want to replace the floor pans or patch them for now, the front is solid enough though. Underneath the front and rear seats the metal is good, it’s the floors and trunk that can use some pans and or fabrication especially around the lip of the trunk where the water flows through the channels. The paint is in decent condition and cleaned up well when I washed it.
I bought this car recently with plans to restore it and it came with the previous registration and a bill of sale but Massachusetts won’t let me register it due to the Vermont loop hole. As far as I can tell, you should be able to register this in other states where they only require a bill of sale or previous registration only, but that has been filled out to me because I was going to register it. Before hitting buy it now, to be completely transparent, I would check the rules of your state to see what paperwork is acceptable to register it or use it for parts. If you aren’t aware of the Vermont loophole, I’ll explain.
The previous owner had the car and with no title so they couldn’t register it. A few years ago, Vermont allowed people out of state to register cars in their state to collect revenue. So there were a lot of people buying cars with just a bill of sale and then headed to Vermont to get paperwork to be able to legally drive it. When I went to motor vehicles after buying it, they saw a Massachusetts address with a Vermont registration and because they lost revenue while it was on the road back then, they wouldn’t register it. Your state might not have that rule so please double check because I want you to be confident in your purchase and hopefully you can enjoy this nice car.
I did a check on the vin number and it comes back as a clean title through Massachusetts and I’ve included a picture of the search results. You can also go online to the Massachusetts RMV website and enter the vin and it will show you that it’s clean. Again the registration has already been filled out to me so check if your state is ok with that or if they will accept me giving you a notarized bill of sale or affidavit and i will do that for you. The mileage is true mileage unknown but the dashboard reads 6511 I’m assuming 106,511 because digits aren’t evenly across.
